Stan Daniels won eight Emmys during his long television career, four as one of the writer/producers of the Mary Tyler Moore Show and four as a co-creator and co-writer/producer of Taxi. With his longtime partner, Ed. Weinberger, he wrote several episodes of Mary Tyler Moore and Taxi, including the Emmy award-winning “Mary Goes To Jail.” Ed. and Stan went on to create and produce several series for television, including Phyllis, Doc, The Betty White Show and The Associates (starring Martin Short). They also wrote the Steve Martin movie, The Lonely Guy. They partnered with Jim Brooks and David Davis to write the TV musical Cindy, for which Stan also wrote the music and lyrics. (Cindy starred Charlene Woodard and Nell Carter.) On his own, he created the series Roc starring Charles Dutton. He also wrote several TV movies, including: HBO’s Glory, Glory, starring Richard Thomas, For Richer, For Poorer, starring Jack Lemmon, and The Substitute Wife starring Farrah Fawcett.

Ho Chi Minh Hit Parade
Stan played several different characters in sketches he wrote for the CBC on This Hour Has Seven Days. The show, which aired in the 60’s, was an avenue for a more stimulating and boundary-pushing brand of television journalism.
Yiddish Old Man River
On the set of the Mary Tyler Moore Show Stan would warm up the crowd before filming. One of his classic skits is his yiddish rendition of the song, “Old Man River.”

Stan was an Emmy winning writer and producer on several seasons of The Mary Tyler Moore Show from 1973 to 1975.
THE ACE AWARDS

TAXI
Stan was an Emmy winning co-creator, writer and executive producer on the popular television show Taxi. The show ran 1978 to 1983.
ROC
Stan created Roc a Fox network comedy-drama which ran from 1991 to 1994. It starred Charles S. Dutton as Baltimore garbage collector Roc Emerson and Ella Joyce as his wife Eleanor.
Cindy
Stan wrote the music and lyrics for Cindy a 1978 American musical television film that features an entirely African-American cast. Directed by William A. Graham, the film is an urbanized retelling of Cinderella.
